Can anyone give me some tips and advice on mastering crossovers? I'm having issues...=/

Can you describe your issues? Or send a video? (With awesome 80s music dubbed into the background?)

first - bend your knees, and then work on balancing on one foot at a time (while rolling)... once you have this down, you can pick up your outside foot and place it across and in front of the inside foot, while pushing your inside foot outward. basically, it is a "recycling" motion that doesnt work unless the foot on the ground that you're "replacing" is already moving it's way out from under you (and making place for the next foot), so that you are essentially only ever on one foot at a time.

hope that helps... and if it doesnt - here's an instructional video I found on youtube.

I'd send the video but I'm not completely clothed in them. Buy me dinner first...

These videos are actually SUPER helpful. I'm having issues picking up one skate and putting it in front of the other. I don't know if it's a balance issue or a weak ankle issue. It's most likely both. Thanks for the links to these videos! They're perfect!

It's easier to do it if you're rolling forward first. If you can't get your crossing-over leg over your skating leg, try bending your skating leg more. And you shouldn't be putting your crossing-over foot front of the other, you should be bringing it all the way across and planting it on the other side of the skating leg. (In the video, her form isn't the perfect form you would learn from the fabulous GGRD coaching staff.)

I believe that the GGRD coaches are doing a few basic training sessions and boot camps at the Crashpad. If you haven't already checked them out, you totally should: http://www.gothamgirlsrollerderby.com/t ... c-training

Good luck!
