How To Join
Want to join Gotham Girls Junior Derby? Awesome! We can’t wait to meet you!
If You're a New Skater…
Signup for our newsletter to be notified when our next Basics & Beginners program begins
Reserve a spot by registering here and come ready to learn skating and introductory derby techniques.
Your safety is very important to us! All skaters will need to purchase high quality knee pads, wrist guards and elbow pads – you’ll be using them a lot! For practices, please bring:
- Well-fitted quad roller derby skates.
- Properly fitted helmet (no bike helmets)
- Knee pads that can hold up to full-force falls to the ground
- Wrist guards
- Elbow pads
- Mouth guard (boil and fit at home)
- Sneakers for running and land drills
- Water bottle with your name on it
For skates and protective gear, we recommend GGRD sponsor Five Stride Skate Shop in Williamsburg, which is owned by two of our Gotham alumni and Team USA members, Bonnie Thunders and OMG WTF.
We have a limited amount of gear to lend out for new skaters. Sizes and availability are not guaranteed. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
If you're a Skater with another junior league…
Long distance visitors may observe or participate in 2 practices at no cost (or more with the purchase of a class package). For more information on being a visiting skater, please contact email@example.com.
If you are interested in transferring to GGJD…
Relocated skaters from other leagues who have not yet been cleared for scrimmage will be asked to join our next Basics & Beginners session. Skaters who have been previously cleared for scrimmage (JRDA level 3) and who provide a letter from their former league may arrange to attend a practice for a skills assessment and determination of placement.
You don't have to be a competitive skater to join the GGJD community!
GGJD and GGRD welcomes volunteers of all ages to get involved with our league! If you are 8-17 years old and are interested in alternative ways to be involved, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
