Gotham Girls Roller Derby

August's Boot Camp

August 22, 2009

The Gotham Girls were tickled today to host skaters from a variety of neighboring leagues at August's all-day roller derby Boot Camp, held at the Gotham Girls' "Crash Pad."

Above: Gotham All-Stars Surly Temple, Ginger Snap, and Sweet Sherry Pie demonstrate the "Hold 'er and hit 'er".

Below: Pie, Surly and Luna Impact explain something of vital derby importance.

Skaters from Washington D.C., Suburbia, Harrisburg, Garden State, Long Island, Dutchland, Hudson Valley, Albany, and other regional leagues spent the summer morning and afternoon working on skills, practicing teamwork, learning drills, and scrimmaging.  Great work, ladies!

Stay in touch with the Gotham Girls to keep advised about future 'Boot Camp' opportunities.

Note that the "Boot Camps" are for experienced skaters from existing leagues; aspiring Gotham Girls and beginning skaters should plan to attend the "Skills Nights" held in advance of league tryouts (dates TBA).
