Gotham Girls Roller Derby

GGRD advances to Region finals with 154-53 victory over Boston

September 12, 2009

The Gotham Girls Roller Derby All-Stars advanced to the WFTDA's East Region Finals for the third consecutive season by handling the Boston Massacre, 154-53.

The first period was marked by disciplined play and very few trips to the penalty box for the defending national champions, who led 79-17 at the break.  The second period's play was more ragged, with Gotham hanging on despite disadvantages in numbers in the pack.  Gotham won the second period 75-36.

The GGRD All-Stars notched their 18th consecutive victory and play the Philly Roller Girls tomorrow night (Sunday, September 13) for the WFTDA East Region title.  It will be the sixth-ever meeting between these two squads, with Philly yet to notch a win.  The 2009 Philly squad is one of the very best in the nation and the 8pm bout promises to be a thriller.  Tune your browser to Derby News Network for the live boutcast.

Statistical details of tonight's bout against Boston will be added to this page as they become available.
