Ambush played soccer and ice hockey growing up; she was captain of the Mount Holyoke hockey team in 2005. She also ran track, was a competitive horseback rider, and has been known to jello wrestle from time to time.

Ambush skated for the Brooklyn Bombshells from 2007-2009, the Wall Street Traitors in 2008, and the GGRD All-Stars in 2009.

Ambush grew up in Maine, which was pretty awesome. She played outside a lot, especially with her dogs. For one hot second she lived in Montreal. Then she went to hippie college where she began working with women in prison and started to think progressively. Now she lives in NYC, where she is in graduate school studying forensic psychology. She likes to travel the world, spreading the gospel of derby; her Mexican derby name is Sammy Brero.

Ambush served as the Community Outreach Co-Manager in 2009.
