Bonita began her athletic "career" as a gymnast. That lasted through middle school until she decided she was tired of missing The Cosby Show because of practice. In high school she was a cheerleader and a member of the modern dance group. She joined a co-ed soccer team for one season after being inspired by the U.S. Women’s winning World Cup run in 1999. Until discovering derby, she had thought that sports participation was a thing of the past.

Bonita grew up in New Jersey. After graduating college she moved to New Orleans and lived there for six years before leaving for an eight month stint in Europe. Upon returning to the U.S. (and to Jersey) she started working at a bookstore and doing community theatre. While she still works at a bookstore, she’s given up theatre for derby and wouldn’t change a thing.
