Double Clutch has been an athlete all her life. She was the first female 4-year letterman at her high school and in college she taught aerobics at the on-campus YMCA and formed a social running club that met weekly for co-ed group runs. After college, Clutch moved to Chicago, joining the Chicago Area Runners Association competing in various distance road races and placing in her age group. At this time, she also purchased her first pair of inline skates.
Always wanting to live in the Big Apple, Clutch moved to NYC with only her running shoes, inline skates and clothes. She joined the New York Road Runners (NYRR) and has run hundreds of road races, including 2 NYC marathons (2002; 2004), and the "More Marathon for Women" in 2005. At the same time, Clutch became one of the volunteer leaders of "Blade Night Manhattan," an informal inline skating group, leading weekly group skates all around the city. Dispersing from that group, she joined an elite group of skaters who skated 30+ miles on the weekends to various locations throughout the city such as Hoboken, via the GW bridge; Coney Island; Rockaway Beach; and City Island.
Always active and needing to mix things up, Clutch then set a goal of participating in a natural bodybuilding contest, placing 2nd. In 2001, Clutch segued into multi-sport races, participating in several triathlons with the Sandy Hookers Triathlon Club. In 2006, Clutch won her age group in both the Prospect Park Fall Duathlon and the Splash-n-Dash Aquathon in Douglaston, NY, and in 2007, she competed in the inaugural all-female triathlon (SheRox) in Philadelphia.
