Anya ran, rock-climbed, and competed in volleyball, equestrian and Taekwondo before discovering roller derby in 2004. She was lucky enough to join Tucson Roller Derby in the early days of the derby revival. This meant that her complete inability to skate (cracking her tailbone at her first practice and taking months to learn a t-stop) did not prevent her from joining the Vice Squad and going on to win TRD's 2005 championship. While with Tucson Roller Derby, Anya competed in and helped to organize the first two WFTDA tournaments (Dust Devils I and II). Her team, the Tucson Saddletramps, placed second in both tournaments. Anya was lucky enough to join GGRD shortly after the league secured the Crash Pad, and the rest is history.

Anya is a dual Danish and American citizen who was raised backpacking around the world, based out of a home in Tucson, Arizona. She holds degrees in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics and worked briefly in financial trading before settling into her chosen career of web development. 2009 marks her 5th season as an Advisory Board member and All-Star skater for her home league.
