Before her career in roller derby, Knockturn Ali participated in a few but varied sporting activities. She played T-Ball when she was a kid and basketball throughout middle school. In high school, Knockturn Ali was in the marching band. She was in the colorguard all four years, and was voted captain her senior year. In college Knockturn Ali suffered a lapse in judgment and joined the cheerleading squad -- but only for a year.

During the day, Knockturn Ali works in the fashion industry as a colorist.  A colorist is in charge of forecasting colors and making sure everything matches. She’s the one in charge of picking thread and zipper colors to perfectly match the clothes you wear.  She also gets to come up with awesome names for all the colors she picks, like ‘Blue Ribbon’, ‘Green Lantern’, and ‘Samurai Pink.’
