Athletic Background

Luna has been roller skating ever since she learned how to walk. Her father used to take her to Saturday morning lessons, and by the time she was in middle school, she had started to compete in singles. Eventually, her competitive artistic roller skating career also included pairs, solo dance, and free dance. Her last National competition was in August of 2006; she joined GGRD the following spring. The 2009 season marks Luna's third season with the Bronx Gridlock, her second season with the Wall Street Traitors, and her first season with the GGRD All Stars. Outside of roller skating, Luna grew up skiing but is now an avid snowboarder; she also played basketball and softball before becoming serious about her competitive skating and was very involved in her school's modern dance program while in college.

Bio

When she's not skating, Luna is working to finish her Ph.D thesis in Astronomy. She studies the role that neutral hydrogen plays in the evolution of early type galaxies. These are old galaxies that have long been believed to be boring, dead systems; they should not be forming new stars, though she's finding that some of these galaxies seem to be doing exactly that in their outskirts. Studying the neutral hydrogen associated with these galaxies, especially where star formation has recently occurred, is one way to examine how the birth of these young stars is being fueled.
