Splint Her joined the high school badminton team to get out of regular PE class, during which gum would regularly be stuck in her hair. She also learned Kempo Karate and Choi Li Fut Kung Fu to defend herself against said gum chewers. Splint then took up Wushu in college so she could play with swords and bo staffs. She also rode her 12-speed bicycle most of the way home at the end of her sophomore year of college, from San Francisco to Los Angeles, in the California AIDS Ride.
Splint joined the San Diego Derby Dolls in 2007, and has competed nationally in a range of bouts and tournaments from Cincinnati to Sacramento. She also helped to construct multiple banked tracks for SDDD, the first bitraxual roller derby league in the world - willing to play other leagues on surfaces of any incline.
- Bio
When she discovered a degree in Latin and Ancient Greek with a minor in Music wouldn't land her a real job, Splint Her opted to join her friends in creating a movie review website. Later, work at various bakeries, catering companies, rug stores, elementary schools and homeless shelters naturally led Splint back to school to become a cognitive neuroscientist. This passion brought Splint to NYC, where she continues to research the brain and pharmacology.
